Frequently Asked Questions
Can pieces be cut to shape?
Panels can be curved or shaped to fit cooker hoods. However, where there is a change in height, shaping is not recommended as the glass become weak and prone to breaking.
Is this safety glass?
All panels are 6mm toughened glass and conform to BS6026.
Can I fit myself?
We would not recommend anyone to fit the product, but to use our professionals to measure, template and fit.
Does the wall need to be flat and in good condition?
The walls need to be free of any raised areas over 2-3mm. Any prominent areas should be sanded and all walls sealed with emulsion paint or PVA. Wiring must be chased into walls and allow at least 10mm for the thickness of the glass when installing any light fittings.
Can I fit on to of existing tiles?
Our recommendation is to fit on bare walls.
How are the glass edges finished?
All external edges are polished. Alternatively, a polished aluminium edge can be applied on installation.
What is the cost?
Glass is priced per square metre with additional costs for cut outs, other glass processing, templating and installation. Please contact us for a detailed quote. All prices are exclusive of VAT.
How do I obtain a quotation?
Please forward details of the job and location. We will then arrange for an initial visit to discuss your requirements and approximate measurements.
How and when is payment made?
Once you decide to proceed, a 50% deposit is required at template stage, with the balance being paid on completion. We accept cash or cheque.
Do you make single splashbacks?
Yes
What area do you cover?
From our location in Sussex, we can measure and fit over most of Southern England. Please contact us to see if we cover your area.
What does the order process involve?
We will arrange for our fitter to visit to discuss your requirements and take approximate measurements. Once you advise of your intention to proceed, we will then return to make templates. A final appointment is then made to fit the panels.
How long does it take?
You should allow 14 days from templating to fitting. We aim to fit within (time) from the time you place your order. (This depends on granite installation).
Can I obtain samples of the coloured glass?
At the initial discussion stage we will bring a selection of coloured samples. We will only supply samples once an order is placed.
What if I want a different colour?
We are able to supply painted splashbacks in the Dulux, Farrow & Bull or Crown colour range. Please note that colours have a glossy effect through glass and may differ from the colour on the walls.
Can holes or cut-outs be made in the panels?
Splashbacks by Clearly Unique are intended for use in the kitchen and allow for cut-outs to be made. However, all cuts must be made prior to the glass being toughened.
Please note that cut-outs for electrical sockets should be at least 50mm from the edge of a panel or each socket. When fitted, sockets then sit on top of the glass.
What can I use to clean the splashbacks?
Glass should be cleaned with glass cleaning products or disinfectant. Cleaning with products that contain bleach or other corrosive agents will damage the splashbacks. |
